The sweetness of the pineapple paired with the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter makes this dish taste like you’re eating Brazilian Grilled Pineapple. Plus, it’s a breeze to make – just cut up your pineapple, toss it with 4 simple ingredients, and throw it in the air fryer! Once done, the pineapple is some of the BEST you can make right in the comfort of your own home!
The first step in making the perfect air fryer pineapple is starting out with a ripe pineapple.
How to Tell if a Pineapple is Ripe
A ripe pineapple will be firm to the touch but will yield slightly when pressed. The rind (skin) should be deep golden-yellow in color, and the leaves on top should be green and fresh-looking. The more yellow the rind, the more ripe the pineapple is.
Avoid pineapples that are too soft or have brown bruising on the skin.
How to Cut a Pineapple
Pineapples are a delicious and healthy tropical fruit that can be enjoyed fresh, canned, or juiced. Though they may seem tough to deal with at first glance, pineapples are actually quite easy to cut once you know how. With a little bit of knowledge and the right tools, you’ll be slicing through pineapples like a pro in no time!
First, cut off the crown and bottom of the pineapple. You can do this with a sharp knife or a serrated pineapple corer. Once the crown and bottom are removed, stand the pineapple upright on your cutting board and slice it in half lengthwise.
Then, cut each half of the pineapple lengthwise into quarters. You should now have four long wedges of pineapple.
To remove the tough outer skin, use a sharp knife to cut off the rind in strips, following the contours of the fruit. Once the skin is removed, you can either leave the pineapple chunks whole or slice them crosswise into rounds. Ours were about 1 1/2″ wide and about 1″ thick. This worked perfectly for air frying.
